Segments of corporate America and the billionaire class have moved well beyond amassing obscene wealth. Their instinct to take more and more for themselves has evolved into an unquenchable lust for power. They have become America’s tyrants and they will settle for nothing less than the destruction of Democracy and dominion over us

These tyrants have been executing their regime change through a decades-long effort, built on a series of discrete schemes that, intentionally or not, built upon each other. Each failure or success provided them with the lessons learned and the confidence to reach for more. Over time, they not only drastically tilted the playing field in their favor, but they also took control of our government and even our minds as they convinced many of us to follow them. 

They have created an ecosystem that attracts, awards, and even cultivates sociopaths, and their cumulative indifference to humanity makes us and our planet expendable. Their ranks have grown to include not only the wealthy but also authoritarians, religious extremists, and foreign actors. Ominously, their confidence in their success is so high that they now say it out loud and plan for it in plain sight {project 2025}. 

America’s tyrants positioned themselves atop the food chain and we are their prey. They are directly responsible for most of what is making everything unravel around us today. Americans live harder and sometimes shorter lives because of the tyrant class.

We are Losing an Invisible War

Nothing pisses off tyrants more than the idea of a government that acts in the interests of the people over those of the wealthy.   In the late 1960s and early 1970s, America got too close to that point when our government began reigning in corporate exploitation of our health, our wallets, and the environment.  As the power of the common man continued to increase through a more responsive government, the tyrants began to feel squeezed – so they declared war on us.

Knowing that we’d never allow their version of America to be forced upon us, they disguised their attack. They’re attacking us in small units that they camouflage as well-meaning political organizations, think tanks, social welfare groups, legal associations, media outlets, etc. These are the lair of our tyrants, where they use their unlimited funds and lust for power to twist our government and our minds in their favor. 

They use the terrain of our society to their advantage – exaggerating and aggravating our economic disparity, cultural tensions, crime, and discontent with government. In many cases they created many of these issues in the first place, thereby shaping their own battlefield, giving them a distinct advantage.

We were ripe for this type of attack – we couldn’t have imagined that there were so many among us who were going to such lengths to destroy everything good about America. {link to While we were being good Americans, they were not.}

Like wolves, the predator class instinctively prey on anything below them in the food chain – and that means just about all of us.

The Casualties

When looking at the cumulative damage of their attack so far, it looks more like the results of scorched-earth tactics than it does a hidden war.  

Our Government

[Their minions tell us about the “deep state” when in fact, it is they who have established their own billionaire-based regime in our country, and it is the foundation on which all levels of our government now operate.] Our tyrants and their foot soldiers have infiltrated our federal government to attack from the top down. They’ve taken over government agencies to attack from the inside out. They’ve hijacked state and local governments in states all around the country to attack from the bottom up. 

Stacking SCOTUS and our judicial system in favor of the tyrant class was planned back in the 1970s. Since then, billionaires and their shadow groups have spearheaded an effort where potential federal justices, staff members, and attorney generals were identified, gifted, and groomed. Candidates were selected, not based on their judicial experience but on their embracing of the concentration of wealth, social control, and religious ideologies – in other words, their loyalty to the saboteurs of democracy and their disloyalty to you.

These openly {link to corruption} “owned’ justices have gradually increased the power of corporations, the wealthy, and foreign interests over our Democracy while decreasing voter’s ability to protect it{link}. The [corruptly established {link}] extreme-right SCOTUS majority is ignoring past precedence, fabricating [something – legal concept], and cynically embracing 1500s European law to justify their decisions are doing whatever the hell they want on behalf of the billionaire class.

A stacked judicial system only works when it hears cases that matter to those who stack it. To get the most out of their stacked court, our tyrants have carefully staffed and heavily funded legal organizations that maintain a pipeline of specially crafted cases through our judicial system with the intent of tilting the Constitution in their favor. {[Ex. A primary focus of these groups has been to push for more money in all aspects of American politics, creating a hidden multi-billion dollar ecosystem that funds government corruption, elections, political groups, media outlets, and local astroturfing activities – all giving the wealthy more control over us than we can ever possibly realize.

Financial control of Congress was not enough for our Tyrants so, just as with SCOTUS, they began selecting, grooming, and positioning their hand-picked congressional candidates and congressional staffs. 

These owned politicians have been installed to do much more than increase tax breaks for billionaires, deregulate industry, and privatize government. They are there to weaken agencies designed to protect us and the planet and to render our government impotent and submissive to industry{OTA link}. They are there to destroy our Democracy.

Even the White House is victimized with Think Tank members on the white house staff and in Cabinets White House. staffing with loyalty, not competence.

Our Sanity

Our tyrants knew they had to get our permission before they could destroy our Democracy and luckily for them, while money may not buy happiness, it can certainly buy mind control. “Mind control” is no exaggeration – we humans are malleable creatures, and tyrants have always used the power of anxiety to keep their people in line.

As they slowly took over our government, they covertly turned their greed into policies and laws that reflect pro-corporate ideologies (such as trickle-down economics). This has taken its toll over time and has ruined many of us financially, making us feel abandoned by society. For those of us still clinging on, they tell us over and over that we’re about to lose everything. Either way,  being kept in a steady state of anxiety makes us dizzy with fear, anger, hate, and distrust, which makes us ripe for exploitation and more willing to follow their lies and empty promises.  

Their formula was simple.

• Repurpose our government to work in their favor
• Use their government to tilt the playing field against us
• Convince us to blame the vulnerable for what they did to us
• Convince us to distrust things that will get in their way (our government, science, education, etc.)
• Convince us that we are victims and only they can protect us.

Anxiety is easily used against us as it changes the way our brain perceives our surroundings. The damage the tyrants have done to our bank accounts, our government, and our future has rewired many of us to turn to Donald Trump with his promises of tearing everything down.

Social Engineering

It turns out that it’s fairly easy to brainwash millions of Americans if you have enough money and patience.

Fox News, other conservative media outlets, and conservative rhetoric in general: “creating a world that doesn’t exist and forcing people to live in it.”

Media

Tyrants are buying up our news sources all around the country. This means that more and more of our news is controlled by fewer and fewer people – people who don’t give a shit about truth, you, or your Democracy.

Right-wing media initially provided cover for what the GOP was doing on behalf of billionaires and corporate America. But it has since evolved into a {link to lies} disinformation machine for our tyrants to drive us toward {link to something} authoritarianism and a coercive force to keep GOP officials in line.

Mainstream media isn’t actively attacking Democracy but they are actively letting it happen. To avoid being accused of being left-biased by the biased right-wing media (which happens anyway), MSM chooses balanced reporting, tilting the scale against truth. Further, to maximize profits they give us scandals, casting aside news that would make us think or have a greater understanding of the world.

Social Media

Social Media is vastly different than News Media. SM allows our tyrants and their footsoldiers, foreign actors, opportunists, and con men to hang out with you and your family all day long. They can slip their attacks on Democracy next to your aunt’s shared cookie recipe or between pictures of your son’s football game. SM algorithms control who and what we see and can easily cultivate distrust, victimhood, or hate. They stoke our anxiety and then herd us into groups that engulf us in their manipulation.

Some tyrants own the platforms and others own the content. They have created a thriving industry around SM propaganda that attracts opportunists, provocateurs, and authoritarians who inundate our minds from all directions from seemingly credible sources. • Embedding their corporate agenda and ideologies into all levels of education

It is important to point out here that the everyday citizens (the Tea Party, MAGA, the Republican base) that associate with these political factions are hardly among the predator class, in fact, they are the easiest prey and the most often sacrificed. 

The predator class (living and dead) continues to grow, but there are some standouts.  Most notable are brothers Charles and David Koch (David recently died) and their Koch Network of think tanks, political organizations, and legal groups.  The damage caused by these two and their minions is significant as they funded and masterminded much of what is in this article as they marched us to the brink of authoritarianism. [ taking away our voting rights. ]

There are plenty more. Going back fifty years we have Lewis Powell who masterminded the hell we are living in now.  James Buchanan, Mike Fink. Over the past ten or more years, Leonard Leo and the Federalist Society have been involved with stacking the Supreme Court and a good chunk of our judiciary all across the country. They also fund anti-election efforts and install their own professors at Universities. Billionaire couple Liz and Dick Uihlein spend millions on judicial appointments and many Right-wing social engineering efforts.  Fossil fuel billionaires Farris and Wilks wants to replace public education with public Christian education and spend millions on climate denial.

Then there are the master manipulators such as Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch, Sinclair Broadcasting owner Julian Sinclair Smith and his family, and conservative financiers Robert Mercer and his daughter Rebekah.  We might as well throw in the top management at the hundreds of corporate, conservative, libertarian think tanks, etc.  Of course, there is the long-running inflow of dark money from the super-wealthy Bradley, Olin, and Scaife families (and many others) that funds much of the above.

All of this is just a tiny sample. In other words, the predator class and their minions are spread out all over the place. If we lose our Democracy or our planet, it will largely be their fault (seriously). 

Yes, the term for someone who is so sociopathic that they are okay with causing harm to society or others is a malignant sociopath.
